WWE SmackDown star and a former three times WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT champion recently claimed that he helped Roman Reigns to portray a different side of his character. He also said that Roman Reigns called him a dynamic performer in 2021.
Sami Zayn somehow became an afterthought after joining the main roster. In spite of being vastly talented, he was hardly pushed as a main event star in the main roster. Fans believe it was the back to back injuries he received in the recent years that prevented him from becoming the top star of the promotion. But nobody ever denied the fact that he was one of the biggest stars not only of WWE but in the world of professional wrestling today.
Sami Zayn Explains How He Helped Roman Reigns To Portray A different Side
Recently he paired with the Bloodline and this has shown a different dynamic of his character. He has become one of the most popular stars of WWE today after becoming a member of the Bloodline and it is very common to hear Sami Zayn chants among the crowd these days. The afterthought has somehow become the biggest attraction of WWE today. Without Sami, it is nearly impossible to imagine WWE right now.
Everybody knows that sooner or later, he will be betrayed by the Bloodline, but the most important part of the storyline is how. All the angles of his Bloodline storyline are extremely impressive. His angle with Jey or Jimmy, even with Roman, everything is so exciting.
The angle took a completely different turn at Survivor Series when he helped Bloodline to take the victory over their opponents. Fans are eagerly waiting to see the next chapter of this storyline.
Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT champion recently spoke to BT Sport where he claimed that he helped Roman Reigns to portray a different side of his character. He also said that Roman Reigns called him a dynamic performer in 2021. He said;
“I don’t want to speak for him, but I’m sure he doesn’t want to just be the Head of the Table, really serious guy, he wants to have some range and show his chops and acting ability and full depth of his character, as I would think most of us do. I don’t think anybody wants to be pigeonholed as any one simple thing that fans figure you out. If they figure you out, they get bored of you.
“They need to see that this is a complex person with layers. The positive, for Roman — I obviously get tons of positives being on-screen with Roman — the positive for Roman is being able to show a different side of his character that makes him a bigger star because you’re getting to see more of him. He’s such a big star, fans want to know more about him. He only gives them so much, and now we get to give them a little bit more.
“I did hear it and I did go up to him and I said, ‘I really appreciate that, I’m honored that you view me in that light and it would be nice to work together.’ We had talked a little bit about the possibility of doing some on-screen stuff because I get the rub from being on-screen with him, it hypes the fan investment in me and gets them to see me on a higher level.
“For him, I do think there are some benefits as well because I provide a foil for him that allows him, as a character, to let his guard down a little bit and we can see a different side of Roman Reigns. Not only him personally, but I think any performer wants to add that level of depth to the character so you’re not just one thing.”
