WWE Raw star and a former WWE Universal champion Kevin Owens who is also a former three times WWE United States champion recently expressed his desire to work for the independent circuit wrestling promotions while working in WWE.
Kevin Owens is working in WWE for over 8 years. He first worked on the NXT which is the development Territory of WWE for 1 year. In 2015 he made his debut directly against John Cena. He also got main event level success but that last it for only 1 year. In 2016 he won the WWE Universal Championship. But after dropping it in early 2017, he remained an upper mid card.
Kevin Owens Would Love To Work For Independent Circuit While Working In WWE
As long as Vince McMahon was in charge of WWE, Owens had mostly been treated as a mid card, sometimes upper mid card. Of course he got to challenge for the WWE world title for a number of times but he could never win after his initial title drop. A lot of fans were unhappy with the way WWE treated him for quite a long time. A huge fan base believed that WWE was so obsessed with Roman Reigns that they overlooked big talents like Owens.
But after Triple H took incharge of WWE, Owens is getting more opportunities. He is once again being treated like a main event star. As soon as WWE dethrones Roman Reigns from his epic title reign, Owens would surely get to win some World championships. The World titles need to be split too so that more wrestlers get opportunities to prove themselves on the main event level.
Kevin Owens who is also a former three times WWE United States champion recently spoke to After The Bell with Corey Graves where he expressed his desire to work for the independent circuit wrestling promotions while working in WWE. He said;
“I’m very deeply rooted in the independent scene. That’s where I came up. I still have so many friends there.” Kevin Owens told Corey Graves while talking to his After The Bell Podcast.
“There are a few wrestling companies, independent companies that I still hold very near and dear to my heart that I’d love to maybe one day show back up on just for fun whether it’s a promo or maybe it’s a match.
“That’s stuff that over the years I’ve always thought ‘hey man, it’d be really cool if I get to do that one day.’ Now it feels like more of a possibility than ever. And that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen but it feels that it could now. And that’s very exciting. The fans and the wrestlers.”
