Out of favour England batsman, Kevin Pietersen is set to play a charity match in this summer in England. England batsman will play for Yorkshire Tea20 Charity Challenge to raise money for Cricket United.
Pietersen this season doesn’t shine for Surrey as he will play franchise cricket across the globe.
Pietersen will join England opener Jason Roy in the match, which follows in the footsteps of last year’s Cricket for Heroes match that raised over 300,000 Euro for Help for Heroes.
Former England cricketer Mark Butcher and Michael Vaughan have already signed as a coach for the two teams, a Surrey ALL Stars XI, and Cricket United XI.
It is expected that other big names will be revealed in coming days soon.
‘Cricket United is a fantastic cause and the Kia Oval is one of my favourite grounds in the world, so I couldn’t be happier to be playing there on September 22nd,’ Pietersen said.
‘I’m sure there will be a big crowd and I look forward to finding out who else will be playing!’
Ticket price is just 20 euro for adults and 1 Euro for U16s. The tickets will be available from kiaoval.com.
Pietersen will not play this year’s Hero Carribean Premier League’s team St. Lucia Zouks.
Pietersen last played for England in 2014 Ashes at Sydney Cricket Ground. He was discarded from the team after Andrew Strauss has become the director of the ECB. Strauss blamed Pietersen to ruining the team spirit.
