Team India is off to flying start in the first test of  Border-Gavaskar Trophy  that got underway in Nagpur. Australian captain Pat Cummins who won the toss opted to bat first, star Indian all rounder Ravindra Jadeja picked up 5 wicket haul to bundle out Australia for just 177 runs. In response, Rohit Sharma got India off to a strong start and piled 77-1 at the end of Day 1.

Ahead of the first test, they were many controversies loomed regarding the Nagpur Pitch and  was heavily criticised by former Australian cricketers and Australian Media that the pitch is “unfair” for the visiting sides.

However in the Day 1 of the first test, saw spinners purchasing some turns but it was not that threatening for the batsman as former Australian Cricketers predicted, Only the quality bowling from Indian spinners brought wickets to them rather than the assistance from the surface.

Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri was doing commentary along with Matthew Hayden in Star Sports, the official broadcaster of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Ravi Shastri took a dig on Hayden on air

 Look at that fellas, degree of turn!” Hayden spoke on air

 “I can’t read that Haydos (Hayden). I see that wickets column, which is still zero. What happened now, what happened to the talks about pitch. 24 hours ago there were lots of noises.” Shastri replied on air

They are lot of interesting battles going on and off of the field in this high octane series between India and Australia.

A Test cap is probably the most biggest moment in any cricketers life. Surya Kumar Yadav who has been a sensation for India in white ball cricket has been handed his  test debut along with Srikar Bharat. The Former Indian Coach Ravi Shastri Presented Surya the cap and said:

“Surya, Many congratulations, wear this with pride and honour and remember that every time you step out for your country, You have reached here not with anybody’s help, you have reached here because of what you have done and the way you performed over the last few months, So enjoy, your game should not change just because it is Test match cricket” 

Surya Kumar Yadav will look continue his form and contribute to India in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
