Team India have further consolidated their position in the ICC World Test Championship Points Table (ICC WTC Points Table) after inflicting a heavy innings defeat on Australia in the first Test at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. The Rohit Sharma-led side thrashed Australia by an innings and 132 runs to take the lead in the four-match series.

Team India just thoroughly dominated the Test and did not really face any challenge from the visitors as they won the game inside three days with utmost ease. Pat Cummins did win a good toss but that was the only moment where it looked like Australia might pose a good challenge.

Jadeja and Axar Patel also scored fine fifties in the first innings. Trailing India’s first innings total by 223 runs, Australia needed to bat out of their skin to save the game let alone win it. The tourists, however, came up with another horrific batting display and were all out for just 91. Ravichandran Ashwin took 5 wickets while Jadeja picked up another 2.
