Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi has made a bizarre statement on Twitter in order to state that the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) won’t be affected in the wake of the terror attack on the Karachi police chief’s office on Friday (February 18).
Karachi was rocked by the terrorist attack after heavily-armed militants of the Tehreek-e-Taliban (Pakistan) attacked the head office building of the Karachi Police Chief. The attack in the country’s most populous city has further tarnished Pakistan’s image.
Bomb blasts and such attacks from militants have become regular in Pakistan in recent times. The recent turn of events may prove costly for the PCB once again. The PCB had to host their home games as well as the PSL at a neutral venue for nearly a decade due to security reasons.

The first few seasons of the PSL were held in the UAE due to the poor security situation prevailing in Pakistan. In recent years, the situation has improved and several teams have visited Pakistan for bilateral series. However, the spate of militant attacks in recent months might make thing tough for the PCB once again.
Najam Sethi on PSL 2023:
In the wake of the terrorist attack in Karachi, Najam Sethi has come up with a bizarre statement. While assuring the players that there are no security threats in the country, Najam Sethi bizarrely claimed that the TTP have said that they will only target State Security Establishments because various “deals” have broken down. Claiming that the PSL won’t be affected, he tweeted:
“The TTP have said that they will only target State Security Establishments because various “deals” have broken down. There is no threat to PSL. It will go on.”
Unsurprisingly, it did not take Najam Sethi long to delete the tweet. However, it has not stopped him from facing criticism as several fans and others slammed him for his insensitive twetet:
TTP has assured him that PSL would continue even if the rest of the country is under attack. @najamsethi is more concerned about PSL than a country! pic.twitter.com/KsZdc26AHB

PCB chairman Najam Sethi has deleted his tweet. Sanity prevails!
Overseas players are always provided state security and even if he knew a thing or two, there was no point tweeting it in public. Not doubting his intentions as PCB chairman, but the tweet wasn't really needed.

PCB is not a Galli Muhalla Cricket Board! Najam Sethi and other PCB officials should understand importance & professionalism of PCB media department. They should stop tweeting everything from personal accounts & choose a professional pathway inorder to behave like a professional.

What nonsense is this? Najam sethi is so ignorant that he is validating TTP attacks on state and selfishly paving way for PSL. https://t.co/RzRYmcOVRs

Najam Sethi:
Suppose TTP is attacking Karachi Police HQ which is just minutes away from Karachi Stadium & the bus carrying Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi players passes, then TTP will stop the firing by saying:"TIME PLEASE" & the firing will resume only after the bus is gone.

Very much shocked with the statement by Najam Sethi claiming PSL is safe because TTP has targeted state institutions. Chairman of PCB should choose the words wisely while delivering a message. Perhaps such statement by Najam Sethi was not even necessary to be given rn. #HBLPSL8
