Ravichandran Ashwin, on Sunday (February 19), once again decided to have some fun at the expense of an opposition player at the non-striker’s end during the ongoing second Test between India and Australia.

Every once in a while, the India spin spearhead decides to scare the opposition player by cheekily pulling out of his run-up. And on day 3 of the ongoing game, he decided to pull out of his run-up while Steve Smith was standing at the non-striker’s end.

The incident took place in the 15th over of Australia’s second innings while Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling to Marnus Labuschagne. On the fifth ball of the over when Ravichandran Ashwin was about to release the ball, Labuschagne made it clear that he would go for a pre-meditated sweep.

Ashwin noticed it and decided to pull out of the run-up. In the meantime, Smith, who was at the non-striker’s end, had walked out of the crease. And as soon as he saw the spinner pulling out of the run-up, he quickly got inside the crease and extended both his arms in order to express his frustration as well as relief.

At the other end of the pitch, Virat Kohli just could not hold his laughter as he started clapping and laughing after seeing Smith’s reaction.

Here is a clip of the incident:
