In the waning hours of the January transfer window, Marcel Sabitzer quickly completed a move from Bayern Munich to Manchester United loan until the end of the season. And with four games thus far, Sabitzer has already proven to be a dependable presence for United and has adapted swiftly to English football. The player’s agent Roger Wittmann has now admitted that his client is enjoying himself in the Premier League, and has suggested that a permanent switch could be in the works this summer.

United boss Erik ten Hag needed emergency reinforcements in the midfield due to Christian Eriksen’s injury last month. As a result of Eriksen’s injury, Casemiro’s currently served suspension, and Scott McTominay’s prior absence, Sabitzer, who was the player chosen by the Red Devils to sustain their midfield has already made four appearances for United and looks at home which was missing at Bayern.

He loves this English hardness! – Marcel Sabitzer at home in Manchester claims agent

According to his agent, Marcel Sabitzer is quite content at Manchester United and would be open to making his loan from Bayern Munich a permanent move in the summer. The Austrian international has sparingly featured for Bayern since his move from RB Leipzig in 2021 where he had developed into a world class midfielder and had the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Juventus chase him only for the Bavarians to win the race for a mere €15m.

However, Bayern was never going to drop either of their most in-form midfielders Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka to accommodate Marcel Sabitzer. The 28-year-old was handed only 15 Bundesliga starts by Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann until he left them for United last month. And his agent now claims that his client is delighted in the opportunity to play more often for the Red Devils which could open the doors for a permanent switch. Wittmann  told SPORT1:

“Marcel is a top player. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s performing so well so quickly. If you have as much experience as Marcel, whether in the Champions League or with his more than 60 international matches, it doesn’t take long to find your way around a club and a league like this.

“He loves this English hardness! It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him. He’s an aggressive player. He does exactly what he can there. And that’s what’s needed there.

“At Manchester United, we see Marcel from Leipzig again. I’m very happy for him. What’s next in the summer? We’ll see when the time comes.”

The Premier League’s style, according to his agent Roger Wittmann, fits him, and he has hinted that a summer transfer may be in the works.

According to SPORT1, Bayern would also be amenable to the notion of a permanent transfer of Marcel Sabitzer during the summer transfer window. The €15 million they spent to sign him in August 2021 would like to at least be recouped by the reigning Bundesliga champions. Sabitzer has a contract with Bayern until June 2025, but if he impresses Ten Hag, a deal that benefits all sides might be struck.

Sabitzer’s box-to-box style fits the Premier League well, according to Wittmann, despite his inconsistent performances (since he was fortunate to avoid a red card for a reckless challenge on Wout Faes during the 3-0 win over Leicester on the weekend). In the absence of United’s star midfielder Casemiro, Sabitzer has transformed from a benchwarmer at Bayern to a crucial member of Ten Hag’s midfield. With Marcel Sabitzer on the field, United have collected 10 out of a possible 12 points and has three Premier League starts under his belt already in 4 games.
