Joe Root has been playing some outrageous shots in Tests in recent months. Ever since England have changed their batting approach in the longest format of the game, Joe Root has also made sure to play his part to perfection.
He has been in stunning form ever since he stepped down as the captain and has also been scoring his runs at a stunning strike-rate in Tests. Every now and then, the former England skipper also surprises with everyone by playing some outrageous shots especially the reverse scoops for a six or a four.
And he was at it again on Friday when New Zealand took on England in the ongoing first Test. Many would have expected Joe Root to stay away from that shot after what happened in the first Test. The right-handed batsman lost his wickets in both the innings of the previous Test while going for reverse scoop and then reverse sweep.
Joe Root. You are ridiculous.

Joe Root trolls commentator:
Just like many, the commentator had also thought that Joe Root would not go for any reverse sweep or reverse scoop. And he decided to take a sly at Joe Root only to be left red-faced. As Neil Wagner was getting ready to bowl the fourth ball of the 63rd over, the commentator said on air: “No reverse sweeps today” while the other commentator told him to leave the batsman alone.

And just a few second later, Joe Root played the reverse scoop for a four, making the commentator exclaim: “On cue, absolutely no cue.”
Here is a clip of the moment:
"No reverse sweeps today"
Think again ?
