In an unfortunate news, former Madhya Pradesh cricketer Kapil Seth has passed away. Confirming the news, the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association has said that the former player was suffering from Hepatitis B.
Making his debut in 2000-01 Ranji Trophy season, the former all-rounder represented Madhya Pradesh in only one first-class game. His only game came against Vidarbha and undoubtedly he had a game to remember.
Coming in to bat at number ten, the right-handed batsman, Seth, scored an unbeaten 125 off only 167 balls. The superb innings was studded with 14 fours. Madhya Pradesh who were reeling at 276 for 8 at one stage, finally declared at 552 for 8 with the help of Seth’s ton and Ankit Srivastav’s double century (204).
Replying to Madhya Pradesh’s mammoth total, Vidarbha could score only 157 in their first innings and were forced to follow-on.
Once again their batsman failed to deliver and the whole team was dismissed for 219 runs. Madhya Pradesh won the game by an innings and 176 runs. Madhya Pradesh bowler Jai Prakash Yadav was the pick of the bowler with 15 wickets. Sethi failed to replicate his form with the ball and remained wicketless in the match.
In his only List A game also against Vidarbha, in the Ranji Trophy One Day competition, he did not get a chance to bat but picked up the only wicket of his playing career.
