The Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight matches will be held in Lahore and Rawalpindi as per schedule. Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had plans of moving the Lahore and Rawalpindi matches of the league to Karachi in a bid to save money. Earlier, the interim Punjab government had demanded PKR500 million from PCB to conduct the matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi.

As per reports, the Punjab government demanded a whopping amount for lighting and security purposes. To save these expenses, the Pakistan cricket board has considered shifting the Punjab leg of PSL 8 to Karachi.

Meanwhile, the minister of Health from the interim government, Dr Javed Akram, has confirmed to Express News that the PSL matches will not be shifted from Lahore and Rawalpindi to Karachi.

Besides, matches in Lahore will start on February 26, while Rawalpindi will host the PSL matches from March 1. Rawalpindi, with 11 games, has the hosting rights of most PSL 8 matches this season. While the all-important playoffs and final of the tournament are scheduled to be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Multan Sultans are at the top of the PSL points table with eight points. They have played five games, winning four and losing one, and Islamabad United is second on the points table with six points.

Jordan Cox and Sam Billings Will Join Lahore Qalandars For PSL 8

Wicketkeeper-batter Jordan Cox was representing England Lions against Sri Lanka A in an ODI series that concluded on Tuesday. Kent’s batter Cox recently made his England Lions’ debut against Sri Lanka A in Colombo. The Lions won the game by four wickets, with Cox scoring 46 off 48-balls, including three fours and one six. Recently, Jordan Cox won the SA20 league with Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

On the other hand, Sam Billings also had a decent outing with Desert Vipers in ILT20. Cox joined the Qalandars squad on February 23, while Sam Billings would reach Lahore on February 25.

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Shai Hope would depart from Pakistan to join the West Indies team as ODI captain. The wicket-keeper batter scored 47 runs in Qalandars’ victory against Gladiators.

Qalandars will now travel to their home ground to play the rest of their league games. They have so far won two out of three games in this tournament, and are in the second spot on the points table currently.
