KL Rahul’s place in the Indian Team is a hot topic of discussion among the fans and cricket pundits and many experts want Shubman Gill in his place. Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma said that the team hasn’t decided about playing 11 and removing the vice-captaincy doesn’t indicate anything about his place in the team.
Rohit Sharma speaking to the media, ahead of the third test said that the players with potential will be given enough opportunities to prove themselves, and when asked about whether KL Rahul being removed as Vice-captain is an indication that he will not play the third test, Rohit answered
“I said it after the last game also. When we talk about players going through a tough time, anyone with potential will be given enough time to prove himself. Being vice-captain or not being vice-captain doesn’t tell you anything. Then when he was the vice-captain, he was probably the senior most. His removal of vice-captaincy doesn’t indicate anything,”

Rohit continued that both Gill and Rahul will be picked based on how they train and practice in the training session and added all the members of the squad are in reckoning to be part of the playing 11 and said that he prefers to announce his playing 11 at the time of toss.
“As far as Gill and KL both are concerned, that is how they train and practice before any game. Today was an optional training session for the entire group. All 17-18 are in the reckoning. It’s not just about Gill and Rahul. But as far as our XI is concerned, we have not finalized it yet. I prefer it to be announced at the toss. Can’t count out last-minute injuries and all and we will keep it interesting for you guys as well,”
Rohit Sharma will lead India in the third test against Australia in Indore. It will be interesting to see whether KL Rahul or Shubman Gill will open with the skipper.
Will Shubman Gill Get an Opportunity In The Third Test?
India currently leads the four-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 series 2-0 with wins in Nagpur and Delhi and will look forward to winning the series in Indore and confirming their spot in the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023 as well.

Shubman Gill has been in sensational form in white ball cricket scoring 4 hundred in 2023 with the highest score of 208 and has been waiting for his opportunity. Rahul has scores of 20, 17, and 1, drawing immense criticism from fans and cricket experts. Rahul managed to retain his spot in the Indian squad for the last two Tests but lost his vice-captaincy tag. Rahul’s last Test century came in December 2021 against South Africa. Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri and Australian Spinner Brad Hogg wanted Gill to replace out-of-form KL Rahul.
