Jose Mourinho was sent off for the third time this year while also being accused of calling the referee a ‘c**t’ during AS Roma’s clash against bottom-of-the-table Cremonese in Serie A. Mourinho has not always had the finest relationships with those in positions of power, but the manager has never been afraid to express his opinions on them.

Before Tuesday night, the former Manchester United manager had already received two red cards this year, and his conduct has affected the rest of his staff. Earlier this season, Roma coach Salvatore Foti was banned for a month, following his diatribe at officials after the Giallorossi were knocked out of the Coppa Italia.

Jose Mourinho threatens legal action against referee

Roma travelled to Cremona on Tuesday night to face Cremonese who were yet to win a Serie A game as they welcomed Jose Mourinho’s side. The visitors’ manager couldn’t have been pleased to see his side go behind once more to a team with very little success thus far in the current campaign after Frank Tsadjout handed the hosts a shocking lead in the first half.

At the start of the second half, he vented his anger at the referees, and in the very next minute after the break, he received a red card for dissent. Supporters claimed that the manager of Portugal had referred to the referee or one of his assistants as a ‘f***ing c**t’.

One fan claimed, “Pretty sure Jose Mourinho just got sent off for calling the ref a c**t. In English.”

“Mourinho red card and Roma down 1 to Cremonese – panic button,” added a second.

A third posted, “José Mourinho doing Mourinho things. Handed a red card at the start of the second half for abusing the officials as Roma trail Cremonese.”

“At this point, Mourinho has more red cards than his actual players,” joked a fourth.

Another replied, “Mourinho legit has more red cards than Sergio Ramos this season.”

A sixth posted in reference to his prior sending offs, “It wouldn’t be a Roma match if Jose Mourinho didn’t get a red.”

Meanwhile, a raging Jose Mourinho threatened to take legal action against the referee for speaking to him in an ‘unjustifiable way’. Given that Cremonese were yet to secure a league victory, their season has been somewhat of an absurd ride. And despite Leonardo Spinazzola’s equaliser for Roma, they went on to win their first league game of the season after Mourinho was dismissed. Speaking to the press the Portuguese coach fumed:

“I’m not crazy. For the reaction I got, you need to know what happened. Piccinini sent me off because the fourth official pushed him to do so. He doesn’t have the honesty to say what he said to me and what gave rise to my reaction. I don’t want to go into the question that Serra is from Turin and he had me sent off in view of the Juventus game.

“But for the first time in my career, a referee spoke to me in an unjustifiable way. I was lucky to have Piccinini as fourth official once when I was sent off, when I apologized to the referee for the lack of respect. Now he saw me enter the dressing room when I asked the fourth official for honesty. Serra had problems around memory, he forgot.”
