Jurgen Klopp was furious with a supporter who entered the field and slid into Andy Robertson as Liverpool celebrated their seventh goal against Manchester United. On Sunday night at a frantic Anfield, the Reds raced to one of their greatest victories ever, putting seven goals past their bitter rivals. The attacking front three of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez each scored twice with Roberto Firmino adding one for himself with a few seconds left.
The Red Devils put on an absolutely awful defensive performance, with many of them losing all composure as the second half went on and they allowed Liverpool to ram them with six more goals. For Jurgen Klopp though, it was one of his side’s most illustrious victories in club history, as was evident following Firmino’s goal when an overly enthusiastic fan went too far.

Jurgen Klopp yells at fans who injures Andy Robertson with over the top celebrations
As Firmino scored the seventh and the final goal sending the Anfield into an eruption, a fan approached the field and bumped into Andy Robertson, raising concerns that the left-back — who played flawlessly the whole game notching an assist — would be hurt. At the sound of the full-time whistle, the Scotland international was able to survive the final few minutes and bask in the admiration of the Anfield throng.
While Jurgen Klopp was incensed with the fan who knocked out one of his players and was later removed by stewards, there was soon a beaming smile on his face as he basked in a truly amazing victory for his team, who have struggled all season but served as an emphatic reminder that class is permanent and form is temporary. The Reds’ manager too was relieved to finally see his front three click together, scoring six goals between them.

Meanwhile, an enormous boost to their efforts to bounce back from a dismal first two thirds of the season and finish in the Champions League places comes from Liverpool’s remarkable triumph over United. The Reds moved up to fifth in the standings, surpassing Newcastle, and could move fourth if they win their game in hand over fourth-placed Tottenham. While United are 14 points behind leaders Arsenal with a game in hand over them, they may have to concede defeat in their title challenge which was quite short-lived.
Speaking of his side’s dominating win over the Red Devils and Andy Robertson’s all-round display, Jurgen Klopp said:
“Freak result, top performance. A really top performance from the start, I thought the way we started the game was really special, the best for a long, long, long, long, long, long time. We were there, we were aggressive but we played football. We were calm in the right moments, super-lively, super-active in other moments [and] after 25 minutes it opened up a bit.
“Good [from Robertson]! Look, that’s a top situation. I think everybody saw how good Kostas is in the last game, he had a real impact and set up a super goal. But Robbo is Robbo and he had now 90 minutes’ break and I thought he benefited from that today. It was a top performance, like really a flying Scotsman performance!”
