Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli revealed that he always takes a lot of pride in performing for the team and wants to score crucial runs for the team in difficult conditions. Virat Kohli played an astonishing knock against Australia falling 14 runs short of his double hundred.

As India outplayed Australia for the fourth time in a row to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Indian Coach Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli engaged in interesting conversation with each other on BCCI.tv after the series victory. Rahul Dravid questioned Virat about his long-awaited century.

“I know you are someone who takes a lot of pride in his performance and has that habit of scoring 100 regularly. I know there was COVID, so, not a lot of Test matches but has it been hard not to have scored a Test hundred  I know we get a little obsessed with numbers. I’ve loved seeing some of the other innings. Even the 70 in Cape Town was a really good inning. But has (not scoring a hundred) been at the back of your mind? Rahul questioned.

Virat Kohli, who won the man of the match for his exceptional performance in the final test admitted that there was little desperation to get that three-figure mark, but more than that he was not happy with himself for not scoring big runs. He maintained that he always takes a lot of pride in performing for his team.

“Honestly, I’ve let the complications grow on me a bit because of my shortcomings. The desperation to get to the three-figure mark is something that can grow on you as a batsman. I let that happen to me to a certain extent.

“But a flip side to it is, I’m not a guy who is happy with 40-45. I take a lot of pride in performing for the team. It’s not like when Virat Kohli should stand out. When I’m batting on 40, I know I can get a 150”.

Virat Kohli now has 28 tons in the longer format of the game, with a total of 75 centuries in international cricket. Kohli continued his good form since his comeback scoring an international century in Asia Cup 2022, which was his maiden T20I ton as well.
