Afghanistan All-rounder Rashid Khan was named captain of Afghanistan for the three-match T20I series against Pakistan in Sharjah. Afghanistan Cricket Selection Committee today named a 17-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Pakistan, which will be played from 24 to 27 March in Sharjah.

Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi made a return to the squad and the exciting  Sediqullah Atal made into the squad who could potentially make his debut against Pakistan. Afghanistan will also be boosted by the presence of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Fazal Haq Farooqi, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, and Naveen Ul Haq who will return to the squad after playing some franchise cricket around the globe.

 “Our team has been working hard in training camp and selectors have selected the best available players for the series. I am confident that our team will perform at their best and make our nation proud. We wish our team the best of luck for the series and hope to see them emerge victorious,” Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Mr. Naseeb Khan.

This will be a huge series for both sides, as their previous clash in Asia Cup 2022, went down to the wire with Naseem Shah hitting two sixes to take Pakistan home against Afghanistan in Sharjah.

Shadab Khan To Lead Pakistan Team Against Rashid Khan Led Afghanistan

Star Pakistan allrounder Shadab Khan is all set to captain Pakistan in the T20I series against Afghanistan. Senior players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf are rested for the series. All the senior players will return for the series against New Zealand.

The idea behind this move is to give young cricketers a chance and to build the team for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Azam Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Insanullah were given chance following their sensational performance in the ongoing Pakistan super league. A three-match T20 series is scheduled between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the UAE this month after the Pakistan Super League’s eighth edition. The first match will be played on March 24  in Sharjah, UAE.
