Former Indian pacer Sreesanth feels Sanju Samson should balance his thoughts between attacking and defending while captaining Rajasthan Royals in IPL. Samson will be leading Rajasthan Royals in IPL 202–and will look to cross the final hurdle this time after losing out in the grand finale of IPL 2022.

Sreesanth played with Sanju Samson in the Kerala team. Speaking on Star Sports, during the season preview of Rajasthan Royals, Sreesanth spoke about Sanju Samson’s captaincy style–and how his performance in IPL can help him to get into the Indian Team.

“Sanju (is) a very attacking captain and sometimes, when the occasion comes, he has to step back a bit. That’s something I’ve been telling him,” Sreesanth said.

Sreesanth asserted that it will the key factor in decision-making during crucial moments of the game.

“That’s one, maybe he might have to balance between attacking and defending. Even when it comes to captaincy, he’s still learning. But that will be one very important point when it comes to strengths and weaknesses. Sanju has to balance his thoughts and decision-making”.

The 40-year-old said he genuinely wants Sanju Samson to do well–and make a return to the Indian team. Samson will be hoping to make full use of IPL 2023 as an opportunity to return to the Indian team.

“Sanju Samson, I genuinely hope that he does extremely well and gets back to the Indian lineup. Scoring lot of runs and lots of performances,” said Sreesanth.

Samson last played for the Indian team in the opening T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka. However, the wicketkeeper-batter was ruled out only after the first game owing to an unfortunate knee injury.
