Renato Sanches is reportedly ready to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer amid interest from clubs like Liverpool. Sanches moved to PSG from Lille last summer for €13 million as a part of a new transfer strategy of the Parisians that shifted away from high-profile acquisitions and put more of an emphasis on the advancement of young, talented players.

PSG, though, has been unable to advance since they are stuck between those two periods. Throughout the course of the season, Sanches has also sustained a number of injuries and hasn’t made an impression. Moreover, Christophe Galtier’s midfield has consistently lacked balance due to a lack of variety in his team. As a result, both the midfielder as well as the club are ready to part ways, with Liverpool registering their interest in him.

Liverpool ready to take Sanches gamble as Reds plot midfield overhaul

It’s no secret that Liverpool are planning a midfield overhaul in the summer. The Reds’ engine in the middle of the park has run out of fuel, with this season being an evidence of it. Jurgen Klopp’s team is bound to go trophyless this season, an much of the criticism has been aimed at his midfield which has no fresh legs. As a result, the club hierarchy has drawn a list of young and upcoming midfielders to start a revolution at Anfield.

Sanches, a right-footed central midfielder has found himself on Liverpool’s list as the Reds are apparently impressed with his skills at driving with the ball at his feet. In 20 games, or 652 minutes so far this season, Sanches has scored two goals for the French club. After disappointing stints at Swansea City and Bayern Munich, the 25-year-old has been able to revive his career in France during the past several years.

After spending three seasons with Lille and playing a major part in their 20/21 Ligue 1 triumph, Sanches finalised a €13 million transfer to PSG last summer. His decision to join PSG was heavily influenced by Luis Campos, the Parisians’ sporting advisor, who he had previously worked with at Lille. However, the midfielder’s role has been diminished to that of a substitute due to the presence of midfielders like Vitinha, Carlos Soler, and Fabian Ruiz.

Sanches was also being pursued by a number of Premier League clubs prior to the transfer, and 90min has reported that clubs from England are still very interested. Apart from Liverpool, the Portugal international is thought to be appreciated by Aston Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham, and Wolves, all of whom are informed of his predicament in the French capital.

As a result, PSG are also ready to sell their summer recruit despite his contract running through the 26/27 season. Although Sanches won’t fetch a handsome fee given his injury woes, Liverpool are apparently ready to risk the gamble. Many more midfielders, including Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount, Matheus Nunes, Ruben Neves, and Joao Palhinha, have apparently come under the Reds’ radar. Meanwhile, Sanches is also a target for AC Milan, who last summer tried to buy Sanches and Sven Botman from Lille but were unsuccessful.
