After the conclusion of the 2019 World Cup, a total of 32 teams were in contention for World Cup 2023. 7 of those 32 teams have already booked their spot at the tournament while 10 teams are still in contention for the remaining 3 spots. The seven teams that have already booked their qualification are – India, New Zealand, England, Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan.
And the remaining teams will be decided by the final stages of the Super League, the Cricket World Cup Qualifier and the World Cup Qualifier Playoff. As of now, just one automatic World Cup spot is left to be claimed and fours teams – West Indies, Sri Lanka, Ireland and South Africa – are in contention.

And while one team will gain an automatic qualification, the other three will have to play the World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe beginning on June 18. Prior to that, the ICC World Cup Qualifier Playoff is scheduled to take place in Namibia this month.
Six teams – hosts Namibia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Papua New Guinea, Canada and Jersey – will take part in the tournament. The World Cup Qualifier Playoff is the second last stage before the World Cup.
It features the teams that are placed in the bottom four places of the Men’s CWC League 2 and the top spots in the CWC Challenge League A and B respectively after four years of competition. The top two teams will make it to the World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe.
