This week’s SmackDown started as footage from last week’s SmackDown was shown where Sami Zayn got attacked by The Usos and Kevin Owens. At the end they hugged it out. Of the following night of Monday Night RAW, Owens and Zayn challenge to the Usos for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team championships at WrestleMania 39 which The Usos accepted.
Match 1 – Cody Rhodes defeated Ludwig Kaiser
WWE SmackDown 24.03.2023 Results & Ratings Part 1
Cody Rhodes wrestled on the first match of tonight as he is back for the regular promotion for his WrestleMania main event so that Roman Reigns could sleep peacefully in his sweet home. The match went on for nine and a half minutes, and it was a good match. Rhodes pinned Kaiser with the Cross Rhodes.
After the match Paul Heyman climbed on the apron of the ring and insulted Cody. He also informed that Cody would be facing Solo Sikoa next week on Monday night RAW at Roman Reigns would be on SmackDown next week to see Cody for one last time. Cody said that on Monday he would show the world that Solo was now ready and at WrestleMania 39 he would prove that Roman Reigns was not ready either.
WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair came out to the arena. She responded to all of her critics including the one who accused her for nepotism. It was a good promo but it had nothing to do with her upcoming match at WrestleMania 39. We did not understand the point of this promo.
Match 2 – LA Knight defeated Rey Mysterio
This might sound like a shocking result but this was a good way to build up the further part of the storyline. The match was booked for eight minutes and it was mostly dominated by Rey but Dominik Mysterio was present outside to distract Rey add that is exactly what he did. LA Knight took the advantage of the situation by pinning Rey with a Roll Up.
After the match, Dominik Mysterio entered the ring and demanded a match against Rey at WrestleMania 39. Once again Rey started walking away. But this time Dominik had a plan B. His mother and sister was on the ringside tonight and Dominik approached them.
This time he started disrespecting his mother as well and his sister Aalyah Mysterio became Furious with her brother. His mother was about to say something but Dominik snatched mic out of her hand and told her to shut up on her face. Finally we got the moment we were all waiting for, Rey came out and hit Dominik directly on the face.
The fans in the arena burst in cheer. This was the moment that everyone was waiting for. Rey grabbed the mic and said that Dominik made him do it. He could have done anything to him but he could not disrespect his mother. Finally Rey agreed to have a match against Dominik at WrestleMania 39.
Match 3 – Shotzi and Natalya defeated Xia Li and Lacey Evans
This was a qualifying match for the fatal 4 way WrestleMania 39 tag team match. We are still not sure what is the purpose of this match. The status of Lacey Evans is more curious than the match itself. What does WWE want to do with her? Everytime they tried to push her, she becomes an undercard. Do they have any plans for her anyway?
