The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has advised the IPL franchise to handle the Indian team players with care as the Indian team is scheduled to play the WTC final in June and followed by an all-important ODI World Cup in India during October-November.

According to reports, the message was conveyed to the IPL teams through the Indian team head Physiotherapist Nitin Patel, and Strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai to the trainers of the respective IPL teams.

“Franchises have been told that the Indian team bowlers should be especially used with caution. IPL teams should not over-bowl them in the nets. They can focus more on strengthening and training. Players can do fielding drills but till the first week of May, franchises shouldn’t push them,” BCCI Official said.

The official also further added that players who are in contention for the WTC finals will be asked gradually increase to their bowling time in the nets, to be better prepared for the finals.

“After May first week, those players who are in contention can slowly increase their bowling time in the nets. The BCCI will get in touch with all franchises again,” a BCCI official said.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will reportedly keep a close eye on the workload of the Indian players who are regular in Tests and ODIs during the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) tournament.

Team India has struggled with a spate of injuries in recent months, which include Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Prasidh Krishna, all of whom are expected to miss most of the 2023 cricket season. In recent months, the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, and Washington Sundar had to spend a good amount of time at the NCA due to their persistent injury issues.

With the Indian team already losing out to Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer due to injury, the management is very cautious about their approach in handling the players in IPL 2023, the Indian management will have a constant talk with the IPL franchise over the player’s workload management.

Earlier Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said that the management will send a few Duke Balls to Indian Fast Bowlers so that they can practice with those balls in preparation for World Test Championship. India will also keep eye on a white-ball specialist with the 2023 ODI World Cup in mind.

This edition of the ICC One-Day International World Cup will be held in India in 2023, with England serving as the defending champions. Men in Blue are set to prepare for the event amid all injury concerns. India will host the ODI WC 2023 solely for the first time, it has organized the tournament in the past but with multiple other countries
