Indian veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin shared his opinion of getting Sanju Samson in the Indian team ahead of the all-important ODI World Cup later this year. Sanju Samson and Ravichandran Ashwin are currently part of the Rajasthan Royals preseason camp in Jaipur.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who was part of India’s win over Australia in BGT 2023 is vocal about his views on world cricket and revealed his thoughts on the inclusion of the Rajasthan Royals skipper in the ODI side. Speaking on his youtube channel, Ashwin said

“We received many comments. Anyway, Wasim Jaffer has mentioned that we are backing many players, and in the same way, we should start trying Sanju Samson also. Even the fans are asking for his comeback. You are asking to back everyone. Why don’t we back Sanju Samson enough?” Ravichandran Ashwin Questioned

Ravichandran Ashwin cited the example of the former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer who wanted Sanju Samson to replace Suryakumar Yadav for the Number 4 spot following Surya’s disastrous series against Australia where he was dismissed for the Golden duck in all three matches.

Sanju Samson has done exceptionally well in limited opportunities in ODI cricket so far. Samson has scored 330 runs in 11 ODIs so far at an impressive batting average of 66. 28 years old, to date has featured for India in 11 ODIs and 17 T20Is for India.

On Sharing his views, Ravichandran Ashwin said that India’s ultimate aim should be to win the world cup rather than chopping and changing the team.

“I am not here to tell who should be backed or anything. I want India to win the World Cup. We should give all the positive vibes for that to happen. That is my thought process,” Ashwin said

Ravichandran Ashwin is currently preparing for the upcoming IPL edition in Jaipur, which is set to kick off on 31st March 2023. Rajasthan Royals will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening encounter on April 2, in Hyderabad.

Ravichandran Ashwin Backs Virat Kohli To Do Well In ODI World Cup

Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin backed Indian maestro Virat Kohli to do well for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup on home soil. Ravichandran Ashwin expressed his confidence that the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli to be an important player for India in the World Cup.

He would try to carry on his form for the men in blue with India having an all-important world cup scheduled later this year on home soil. As the last three ODI World Cups are won by the home team, India will look to make full use of the Indian conditions to end India’s title drought in ICC events.
