Rashid Khan, the T20I captain of Afghanistan, dethroned Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga to become the new no.1 ranked bowler in the latest ICC T20I players rankings, after he led his team to a historic 2-1 series win over Pakistan in Sharjah.
Afghanistan, who had never beaten Pakistan in any format, defeated them in the first two T20Is of the three-match series in Sharjah and despite losing the third and final match, pocketed the series 2-1, creating history in the process.
Rashid Khan was the main beneficiary as he overtook Sri Lankan tweaker Wanindu Hasaranga to become the top-ranked T20I bowler in the world once again. He first claimed top billing as the No.1 ranked T20I bowler back in 2018 and the 24-year-old.
He picked three wickets in total, picking one each in three matches and now at the no.1 spot, he has 710 rating points to Wanindu Hasaranga’s 695 points.

Another benefactor thanks to his performance in the series was Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqui, who picked five wickets and an economy rate of just 4.75 and gained 12 spots to third place.
Meanwhile, South Africa duo Rilee Rossouw (up two spots to sixth) and Reeza Hendricks (up eight places to 12th) also shined in T20I batting rankings after performing against West Indies.
India Opener Shubman Gill Rises To Fifth Spot In ODI Rankings

Meanwhile, in other updates, India opener Shubman Gill rose to a career-high rating of 738 points in fifth place in the ICC ODI batting rankings thanks to his brilliant outings recently, while Indian captain Rohit Sharma jumped one spot to eighth overall.
In bowlers’ Adam Zampa moved to the sixth spot while Zimbabwe veteran Sikandar Raza improved one spot to fifth in the all-rounder category.
