WrestleMania 39 – Rey Mysterio Vs. Dominik Mysterio

This was one of the longest storylines that is going to end tonight on WrestleMania 39. This is also the second ever father vs son match in an event like WrestleMania. The legendary Rey Mysterio went against his own flesh and blood, his own son, Dominik Mysterio.

The first time WWE WrestleMania hosted a father versus Sun match was at WrestleMania X-Seven, or simply say WrestleMania 17, which is still considered as not only the best WrestleMania ever but the best pay per view event in professional wrestling history. Vince McMahon went toe to toe with his own son Shane McMahon in that event. We get to see something similar at WrestleMania 39.

But this match is way more bigger and the storyline is also more interesting. It all started last September when Edge and Rey Mysterio teamed up to take on the team of Finn Balor and Damian Priest. Dominik shocked to the entire world when he betrayed his own father after the mentioned match.

Dominik went on to join the evil force of the Judgement Day on the very next night and he had been asking for a match against is own father since that day. But Rey kept on refusing to fight his own flesh and blood for months. Finally Rey accepted to have the match after Dominik disrespected his own mother.

This was officially the fifth match of the night and this might have been one of the best storyline to conclude to a match at a stage like WrestleMania. Dominik Mysterio had been the perfect heel in this match. He hooked even more heat than Logan Paul, and maybe most in the entire event.

Rey Mysterio was ready to fight throughout the match. There was no denial to fight his son anymore. Once again, Dominik was just the perfect heel. He had been excellent throughout the match and he had been the perfect heat magnet.

Judgment Day joined the frame during the match and they kept on assisting Dominik throughout the match but Legado Del Fantasma came out to help Rey at the end. Rey even received help from Bad Bunny who was on the commentary table during the match. Rey pinned Dominik with a 619 and a Frog Splash.
