So here it is, WrestleMania 39 is finally on its way. The biggest and grandest show them all. The first night of the show featured seven matches in total and the fans had really high expectations from all of them. So did it live up to all the expectations it had? Let us find out.
WrestleMania 39 Night 1 started with The Miz and Snoop Dogg being the host of the show. They welcomed everyone to the show. The Miz gave us a sneak peek of what we were going to witness today. Next we go to the first match of the show directly as the WWE United States Champion Austin Theory came out to the arena.
WWE WrestleMania 39 Night 1 Results & Ratings Part 1
Match 1 – WWE United States Championship – Austin Theory defeated John Cena to retain
This had been the opening match of the night and it was a great opportunity for the young athlete to prove his worth to the entire universe. It was not only his victory in WrestleMania but also the victory of his career. The match also cemented him as a great heel.
The match was booked for ten minutes. It might have been a huge victory for Theory but certainly was not the best match of the show. In fact, it was an average match. Theory cheated to win. He hit a low blow while the referee was out and then hit the A Town Down to pin Cena.
A Prime bottle mascot showed up during the match who tried to help Paul during the match. It was one of the business partners of Paul but the “Bottle Imp” could not help Paul much as it mistakenly got hit by Paul himself.
Paul also kicked out of a Pedigree which was a huge spot. Paul got the control of the match and he hit a Go To Sleep followed by a Frog Splash. But surprisingly, Rollins kicked out of it. Rollins did not look match fit during match and somehow Paul carried the most part of the match. Rollins pinned Paul with the Stomp.
Match 2 – WrestleMania Show Men’s Fatal 4 Way Match – The Street Profits defeated Ricochet and Braun Strowman, The Alpha Academy, and The Viking Raiders
The second match of WrestleMania 39 was really excellent. Of course this match was booked just to fill the card and to give some bookings to more wrestlers on the roster. But it was a pretty good match. It was booked for some nine minutes and it was one of the most entertaining matches of the night.
There were some really great spots like Chad Gable hitting The German Suplex. The Street Profits and they really needed it more than any other team involved in this match. Angelo Dawkins pinned Ricochet to pick up the victory for his side. Once again it was a good match indeed.
Match 3 – Seth Rollins defeated Logan Paul
There were extremely high expectations from this match. A lot of fans expected this match to be one of the best matches of the event keeping the past records of these two world class athlete in mind. But unfortunately, and surprisingly, it totally failed to deliver.
The more surprising thing is, Logan Paul literally carried Seth Rollins throughout this match. Rollins did not look very good in this match at all. We are not sure if he was not matchfit all if he had any other issues, but he looked really weak in this match. There was not even one single high spot move from Him.
But kudos to Logan Paul for carrying the entire match. He was really good and if he also failed to delivered today, the match would completely fall through. Rollins really needed this win and he actually got the win which is definitely a good outcome. There were some near falls that made the match a little better. But overall it was an average match.
