The prestigious WWE Intercontinental championship has finally got its Glory back after “The Ring General” Gunther held it. By the last year, during WrestleMania 38, prestigious title was more of an afterthought and it was mostly being booked as a lower mid card title.
Gunther is having a long rivalry with both of these wrestlers, especially with Sheamus, with whom he had one of the best matches of last year that took place at the Clash at the Castle pay per view event. Drew McIntyre also got involved into this feud earlier. And now at WrestleMania 39, we are having a triple threat match for the title.

Needless to say they are were really high expectations from this match. A lot of fans wanted to believe that this was going to be the best match of WrestleMania 39, even after what the The Usos along with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn did in the Tag Team Championship match, and Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair match, there were a lot of fans who still believed this match could master all of them.
All these wrestlers have produced some of the best matches in WWE history in the past. This was also Gunther’s first WrestleMania, for the Austrian professional wrestler must have been on high pressure. Everybody had mixed opinion while predicting this match, even though, most of the fans believed that Gunther would snatch a victory.
This is booked as the third match of the night, and as mentioned above, a lot of fans expected it to be the best match of the event. But did it live up to the expectations? From the very first minute it had been an extremely physical match. On the early part of the match, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre teamed up on Gunther, but soon, it was every man for himself. The match had been really entertaining from the very first minute of the match, and needless to say, nobody in particular dominated the match.
Near falls were one of the best part of the match that could hook any fan throughout the match. The match was booked for sixteen minutes. Gunther pinned Drew McIntyre with a Powerbomb and the live crowd was extremely happy with it. But was it the best of the night? Not at all. Considering what these three athletes are capable of, it was disappointing.
