WWE Raw star and a former two times WWE World Champion The Miz who is also a former eight times WWE Intercontinental Champion recently talked about his work as a heel and explained how he handled receiving negative reactions when he played a heel Persona.
The Miz is considered as one of the best heels in professional wrestling history. For most of the time period during his professional wrestling career, he has portrayed a heel gimmick that everybody loved to hate. He started his career as a wrestler as a heel and slowly it became his permanent gimmick.
The Miz Discusses Having Negative Reactions As A Heel
WWE did try to promote him as a babyface sometimes, but a babyface never worked for him. Wrestling fans loved to hate him, so after a point WWE also understood that trying to push him as a babyface would never work, and he almost became a permanent heel in the promotion.
He earned most of his success while working as a heel in WWE. He won the WWE title two times, he also won the WWE Intercontinental championship for a total number of eight times, and he accomplished most of the success as a heel. We can definitely call him one of the best heels in professional wrestling history.
The Miz who is also a former eight times WWE Intercontinental Champion recently spoke on his TikTok account where he talked about his work as a heel and explain the how he handled receiving negative reactions when he played a heel Persona. He said;
“Honestly? I thrive on it. Like, I live for the boos. Like, I love it. Some people like to be booed or chanted ‘you suck’; I’m a button pusher. I’ve gotten it from my dad. I realized I got it from my dad when we were in San Francisco at WrestleMania.
“And my dad said something to me, and I said ‘Don’t worry about it.’ And then he said it again, and again. And I looked at him in the eye and went, ‘Oh my god, I do this I do this to everyone. He’s being really annoying right now.’ And I went in my head, ‘Oh my god, maybe I got this from him.’”
“I enjoy the booing. So if you’re going to boo me, boo ne louder. And if you start cheering me, I’m probably gonna turn it to make sure that you’re booing me, because I just like it more. I live by this quote: ‘I’d rather you hate me for everything I am, then love me for something I’m not.’ So that’s what I go by.”
