Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal was not a happy man after the franchise lost its third straight match in the ongoing IPL 2023. DC suffered a shameful 57-run loss to Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Guwahati on April 8, 2023.

Having chosen to bowl first, the David Warner-led DC team bowlers suffered a hammering at the hands of RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (60) and Jos Buttler (79), who gave the team a flying start. Then Shimron Hetmyer (31* in 21 balls), finished the innings perfectly as RR posted 199/4 on a tricky pitch.

While DC bowler Khaleel Ahmed was hit for 20 runs in the first over of the RR innings, Trent Boult of Rajasthan Royals stunned the DC batting by removing Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey for ducks in consecutive balls in the first over itself.

After that, it was a procession of wickets, while David Warner tried to inject some urgency and pace into the Capitals batting. He made 65 in 55 balls and the next best score was 38 from Lalit Yadav and the duo had brought DC back in the game.

But then Yuzvendra Chahal’s 3/27 and R Ashwin’s 2/25, put the final nails in DC’s coffin as they finished on 142/9 in 20 overs and lost the game by 57 runs.

Not Enough Intent With The Bat- Delhi Capitals Owner Parth Jindal

With this loss, the Delhi Capitals languish at the 9th spot on the IPL 2023 points table with a -2.902 net run rate. This performance didn’t go down well with Parth Jindal, the co-owner of the franchise who questioned the ‘intent’ that the batters have shown so far this season but refused to stop believing in the team.

He tweeted: “3 games, 3 losses – very tough to see this @DelhiCapitals- not enough intent with the bat and execution lacking in some areas in the field – we have the belief in this bunch – let’s regroup and start fresh from Tuesday – I believe in this team. Come on Delhi!”

Now Delhi Capitals will face off against Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 11.
