Indian speedster Umran Malik hopes to break more stumps in the upcoming games as he rattled the stumps of Punjab Kings all-rounder Harpreet Brar on the 1st ball of the 11th over during their third match against Punjab Kings.

The two-winning star of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rahul Tripathi, and Umran Malik was involved in a conversation after 1st victory in the league stage of IPL 2023, On the video posted by the Indian Premier League social media handle, Rahul gifted broken bails to Umran Malik and questioned him about his delivery to Harpreet dismissal.

“Probably, I have broken stumps with tennis balls once but in IPL this is the second or third. I had broken one or two bails in the last IPL. It also happened when I was playing for India,” Umran Malik said.

The Jammu Express, who usually bowls at the middle over for the 2016-champions said that he is working on the slow and yorkers in the death overs and credited their new skipper Aiden Markram for guiding him to bowl in the right areas in the match and said that he will continue work on his plans and try to produce better performance for the team.

“Yes, I am happy, I am bowling at the right areas and I will try to bowl slowers and yorkers in death overs. The boundary was shorter on one side where I thought will lose runs, but the captain asked me to bowl in that area so I bowled there. But that created chances of getting wickets. We will continue to work on our plans and give better performance,” Umran Malik added.

Mayank Markande (4/15) and Marco Jansen (2/16) playing their first match of the season was equally impressive for the Men in Orange as their bowling helped Sunrisers to restrict Punjab Kings for 88-9 as their skipper Dhawan was the lone warrior for his side as he helped his team put up a respectable total of 143.

Rahul Tripathi was the star performer for Sunrisers Hyderabad with an unbeaten match-winning knock of 74 runs off 48 balls to help the 2016 champions register their first win in the tournament. When asked about his slow start to the innings.

 “Yes, in the start, I took time but after playing some balls and understanding how the pitch is playing, I got some boundaries and did a good chase,”  Rahul Tripathi said.

With 144 runs,  the Sunrisers started slow in the chase losing their openers before 50 runs, With Rahul Tripathi stitching match winnings partnership alongside their skipper Aiden Markram to get open their tally in the points table.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, who had a poor start to their campaign in IPL 2023, losing their first two games cheaply, came stronger on their second home game under the huge support of their home fans against the in-form Punjab Kings to defeat them by 8 wickets with 17 balls to spare.
