Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde reportedly has confessed hitting Alex Baena of Villarreal on Saturday (April 8). After Saturday night’s 3-2 loss to Villarreal, Valverde is accused of attacking Baena in the bus parking lot. Police reportedly obtained testimonies regarding the altercation from both players, with the Los Blancos star admitting that he struck Baena, according to Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre.
Alex Baena has reported Federico Valverde to the police for assault after the Real Madrid player allegedly hit him. During Villarreal’s 3-2 win over Real Madrid on Saturday, Valverde is alleged to have waited for Baena in the Santiago Bernabeu parking lot and attacked him. The matters have escalated with the police now getting involved.

Fede Valverde accuses Baena of mocking him over his unborn baby
Baena allegedly abused Fede Valverde over his unborn baby during Madrid’s game against Villarreal at the Bernabeu, shortly after the Uruguayan and his wife experienced a miscarriage scare. During the confrontation on Saturday, Baena is thought to have used similar insults repeatedly, which led to Valverde losing his composure. In the wake of the assault, Baena was reportedly seen with a bruised and swollen cheek, according to GOAL.
The Villarreal player himself rejected the claim made by the Uruguayan star’s entourage to the media that he mocked Fede Valverde during a Copa del Rey clash in January: “cry now, your son is not going to be born”. Mina Bonino, the partner of the Real Madrid midfielder, insists that there was provocation. Baena has maintained his reputation in the face of a police inquiry, asserting that the accusations made against him are untrue. He stated on Instagram:
“Very sad about the aggression I suffered after the match and surprised by what is being said about my person. It is totally false that I said that!”

The Yellow Submarine previously stated that they would assist their player in whatever course of action he chose to follow but would not act independently. Although the police may have some, there are currently no images of the violent altercation, but there are multiple accounts of what transpired. Villarreal, meanwhile released a statement concerning the incident:
“Alex Baena suffered an attack while he was going to the team bus after the game against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Because of this situation, the player has decided to file the corresponding complaint against the aggressor to the national police. Once more, Villarreal shows its rejection of any act of violence and believes firmly in the player’s version of events, and will support him through this process.”
The referee however did not include the altercation in the match report, although the actions took place inside the stadium. The Competition Committee often stays out of these disputes, but in the event that a club or a player involved complains, a case will be opened, and the issue will be looked into. But since neither the player nor the club have decided to press any charges, Fede Valverde should be available for selection when Madrid hosts Chelsea at the Santiago Bernabeu for their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg on Wednesday (April 12).
