In their outing too, they were completely on the backfoot against reigning champions Gujarat Titans. Chasing an improbable 205, Kolkata Knight Riders were reeling at 157 for 7 in the 17th over. In the end, they needed 28 runs from the final 5 balls and a defeat was looking like the only possible outcome.
However, Rinku Singh smashed Yash Dayal for five sixes in a row to pull off one of the greatest victories in the history of T20 cricket. With two stunning wins in their last two games, Kolkata Knight Riders have the momentum with them and will be looking to make the most of it in the upcoming game.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, are yet to hit top gear in IPL 2023. They began their campaign with two dismal performances. In their first game of the season, they suffered a crushing 72-run loss while chasing 204 against Rajasthan Royals.
It was followed by a 5-wicket defeat at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants after they finished their innings on a modest 121 for 8. They finally opened their account in the third game when they were up against Punjab Kings. Both bowlers and batsmen played key roles in the win. After restricting Punjab to 143 for 9, Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the total by losing just two wickets.
