Virat Kohli lauded Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh for his amazing feat of hitting five sixes in five balls to win the match for his team against Gujarat Titans in the ongoing IPL 2023 tournament.
On April 9th, during the game in Ahmedabad, GT batted first and amassed 204/4 in 20 overs, with the help of Vijay Shankar’s unbeaten fifty and Sai Sudharsan’s half-century.
Rinku Singh was at the crease in response during the last overs of the KKR chase as 48 runs were needed in 18 balls and Mohammad Shami had only conceded 5 runs in the 18th over. Rinku then managed to strike a six and a four off the final two balls of Josh Little’s 19th over to reduce the equation to 29 runs in the final six balls.
Umesh Yadav took a single in the penultimate over, which Yash Dayal bowled, to put Rinku on strike. Rinku proceeded to hammer five sixes in a row to give KKR an astonishing win by 3 wickets in the last over.

Virat Kohli talked about Rinku Singh’s amazing bat with Robin Uthappa on JioCinema and he acknowledged that the level of batting the KKR star produced that evening was beyond his expectations and left him speechless.
Kohli was at the crease when India required 48 runs in 18 balls at the MCG during the T20 World Cup 2022 match against Pakistan as they chased 160 runs. The equation was then reduced to 16 runs in 6 balls as Kohli struck Shaheen Afridi for three fours in the 18th over and Haris Rauf for two sixes in the 19th over.
He then struck Mohammad Nawaz for a six off a no-ball, and India went on to defeat their bitter opponents by 4 wickets.
Talking about Rinku’s feat of five sixes, Kohli said: “What the youngsters are doing today is amazing to see. Look at this IPL, I couldn’t even think of doing stuff what these young guys are doing. Just the other night, Rinku Singh hits 5 Sixes in last 5 balls which is amazing & never happened something like that. Coming in an hitting five sixes in a row to win a match, I mean what level is this? So that transition is happening is great. It is great to see such youngsters coming up.”
On Friday, Rinku almost repeated his feat of taking KKR to a win in a close situation with a brilliant 58* but KKR fell short by 23 runs while chasing a target of 229 against SRH.
