Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is still leading the Europa League’s scoring charts despite the Red Devils getting knocked out of the competition at the hands of Sevilla. Erik ten Hag’s side blew a two-goal lead in the first leg of their quarter-final against the Spanish side at Old Trafford, and things only got worse in Spain.

Teams will compete for European glory as they take the pitch for Europa League games, with the title victory permitting automatic qualification to next season’s Champions League offering more motivation for the teams in contention. However, the likes of Manchester United and Marcus Rashford will now have to focus domestically by finishing in the top four of the Premier League to feature in the Champions League next season.

Marcus Rashford top of the scoring table; at least for now

As for now, Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) and Victor Boniface (Union SG) are the Europa League’s joint top scorers with six  goals each. However, that is the case for time being since both United and Union SG have been knocked out of the competition.

The duo are being chased by players such as Lorenzo Pelligrini (Roma), Angel di Maria (Juventus), Paulo Dybala (Roma), who have four goals each, and all of whom are still in the competition as their teams made it to the semifinals.

And if their teams are to compete for the crown, they will certainly rely on their top-scorers to deliver on a consistent basis. Moreover, the four players would themselves look to dethrone Marcus Rashford and Victor Boniface from the top of the scoring table.

While Roma will lock horns with Leverkusen in the semifinals, Juventus will take on Sevilla. The match-up means all three of the aforementioned players would get a shot to add to their goals tally in the final which will take place on May 31. Here is the complete list of the Europa League top-scorer for the 2022/23 season.

The 21/22 topscorer

Eintracht Frankfurt had a remarkable season on their way to winning the Europa League in the 2021-22 season, defeating Rangers 5-4 on penalties after the score stayed 1-1 at the end of extra time. They became only the third club in UEFA Europa League history to win without losing a single game from the group stage to the final. This unbroken streak featured a remarkable 3-2 victory over Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Rangers, the runner-up, also had a fantastic tournament. The Scottish team, led by talented captain James Tavernier, defeated tough opponents such as Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig to reach their first European final in 14 years. Despite playing right-back, Tavernier scored 7 goals in 15 tournament games, earning him the Golden Boot award.
