Former New Zealander all-rounder Scott Styris implored Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni to make his retirement announcement beforehand so that he could have a farewell tour across the country. The 41-year-old is one of the most celebrated cricketers in the world and it looks like he would hang up his boots at end of IPL 2023.

MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings started the season very well winning five games out of their seven games and comfortably placed at the number one position in the points table. The CSK skipper had an outstanding reception in Kolkata, with Eden Gardens having a wave of Yellow in the stadium.

CSK Skipper’s post-match interview after SRH’s match gave a feeling that this edition might be the last season for Dhoni as the player in CSK colours. Speaking to JioCinema, former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Scott Styris hopes MS Dhoni announces his retirement prior, whenever decides to hang his boots so that he can have a proper farewell in the country.

“I think he wouldn’t be playing now if he wasn’t in the love of being in the dressing room. I hope that whenever he decides to hang up the bat, whether it’s now, or next season or many seasons later, that he announces it because he deserves a farewell tour around the country,” Scott Styris said.

MS Dhoni has been a stalwart of the Chennai side as he lead them to play-offs for 11 seasons and also reached the IPL final, a record 9 times. The former Indian skipper has played 16 editions of the IPL and captained Chennai Super Kings to win the four championships in the league.
