Manchester United star Casemiro used an animated method of advising teammate David De Gea during their FA Cup semi-final penalty shootout against Brighton. After Solly March skied his spot-kick, the Red Devils overcame Brighton 7-6 in a thrilling shootout. De Gea, with a dismal record at saving penalties, was unable to deny any.

As a result, midfielder Casemiro attempted to interfere as Adam Webster stepped up. With the pressure on, the Brazilian international was seen maniacally bouncing around on the halfway line and waving his fists in the air, implying that De Gea to do the same.

Video footage of Casemiro shouting instructions at De Gea goes viral

De Gea did conform to the dark arts of the game, scuffing the penalty spot moments before Solly March went up to take his penalty. March’s shot sky-rocketed above the crossbar, allowing Victor Lindelof to score the game-winning penalty. In other distracting tactics, Wout Weghorst kissed the ball before passing it to the Brighton winger while De Gea was scuffing the penalty spot.

But it was Casemiro who caught the attention of the fans with his unique way of helping out De Gea. Casemiro, who was originally locked arm-in-arm with Marcus Rashford, jumps away from his teammates before shouting to draw De Gea’s attention. As Brighton’s shoot-out experts moved up, he leapt around flapping his arms in an apparent attempt to indicate the shot-stopper how to manoeuvre between the goals.

As De Gea looked on, the ever-energetic Brazilian shook his arms wildly, kicked his legs out in all directions, and jumped side to side. Unfortunately, the United custodian didn’t appear to receive the message, as he failed to save a single strike. The video of Casemiro’s antics has since gone viral.

Nonetheless, United fans were stunned by their FA Cup penalty shootout victory over Brighton. After seeing David De Gea “reading his notes” and still failing to make a single save. Neither ‘keeper made a save during the shootout. Robert Sanchez came near on multiple times, even having his hand in the game on one occasion.

But De Gea always seemed to dive in the wrong direction. The Spaniard appeared to be reading secret notes disguised in his towel as he halted between tries. And, given De Gea’s track record, United fans couldn’t believe they made it through the shootout against Brighton. Victory puts United in the FA Cup final against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for the first time in the competition’s history.

Meanwhile, Casemiro once again shown his exceptional leadership qualities in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United on Sunday. The 31-year-old is used to dealing with tight situations, as evidenced by his five Champions League wins during his time at Real Madrid. On Sunday, he was placed in his first shoot-out against Manchester United, but he handled the situation with great calmness.

As assistant coach Steve McClaren looked for someone to volunteer to take the first penalty, Casemiro raised his hand and calmly rolled his effort into the bottom corner, giving United the perfect start. Casemiro not simply score and relax on the halfway line while others made the long journey to the penalty spot. Instead, he chose to give help to De Gea in the hope that it would distract Brighton’s penalty-takers.
