Carmella Explains How Total Divas Helped WWE To Gain A Huge Female Audience
In 2016 she arrived on the main roster of WWE after the second brand split and she was one of the six female wrestlers of Friday Night Smackdown. In 2017, she went on to win the first ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, and soon she cashed it in on Charlotte Flair to win the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.
She dropped the title at the SummerSlam pay per view event of 2018, and after that she was never promoted as a main event star ever again. However, she won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship one time in 2021. With her recent bookings, it looks like WWE is slowly restoring her back to the main event status once again.

Carmella who is also a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion recently spoke to Sweety High on Instagram where she shared massive praise for E!’s Total Divas and said she wanted it back. She explained how it helped WWE to bring a larger female viewership. She said;
“I would love that (a Total Divas comeback). I really wanna put that out into the universe. I really feel like we need to bring it back. I feel like we’re really lacking that in the WWE.

“We really need to connect with our female audience and that’s what Total Divas did. It brought such a female audience towards our product and you know, people got to see what we do behind the scenes and get to know us for who we really were,” continued Carmella.
“Not just who we play on TV and I feel like we’re missing that right now in WWE. We’re missing the connection with the female audience outside of the ring of course and I feel like I would just love to bring that back. So I’m putting that out there to the universe.”
