Royal Challengers Bangalore’s young fast bowling sensation Vyshak Vijaykumar was gutted to lose against two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday. The 26-year-old had a decent outing with the ball dismissing both openers in the 10th over.
Virat Kohli-led side suffered their fourth loss out of the eight games they played so far in the league. They were inconsistent with both bat and ball against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Speaking on their 3rd loss in home condition, Vyshak feels that a couple of dropped chances in the field have cost them the match and said that they had a good start with the bat, before losing wickets in regular intervals to the spinners.
“We are gutted about the performance. We dropped a couple of catches and gave 30 runs extra, but we did come back strong. We batted well in the first couple of overs, but we lost a lot of wickets and that’s where we ended up losing,” Vyshak Vijaykumar said.

With 201 runs to chase, RCB openers took on the KKR pacers in the first two overs to score 30-0, with the KKR skipper bringing in the spin from both ends which paid off for the two-time champions, as they picked up the important wickets of Faf du Plessis, Shabaz Ahmed and Glenn Maxwell inside the powerplay.
Royal Challengers Bangalore batters shot selection came under the scanner after the loss against the two-time champions, Speaking on that matter, Vyshak feels that the team always wanted to play aggressively with the bat, but it didn’t work out against KKR as their batters hit it straight to the fielders.
“We always play bold and that’s what we always do. It doesn’t matter who is bowling, if it is a bad ball, it’s a bad ball and has to be punished. A couple of balls where our batters got out were supposed to be hit. But we were unlucky that they were hit to the fielder,” he stated.
The two-time champions have secured their second straight victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore as they were poor in the field and lost wickets in the packs to suffer their 4 loss in the league stage.
It Was Just One Of Those Games Where We Couldn’t Get A Wicket – Vyshak Vijaykumar
Vyshak Vijaykumar said that it was a one-off game for their new ball bowlers as they could not pick wickets in the powerplay as Jason Roy was aggressive with the bat for KKR. Mohammed Siraj has been a sensation for the RCB, but could not find his rhythm against KKR.

“It’s important to bowl well with the new ball and Siraj has been bowling well. Today was one of the days when the ball didn’t swing much. We have been doing well in the power-play and will still do so. It was just one of those games where we couldn’t get a wicket,” Vyshak Vijaykumar added.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will on the road for the next five games starting from Lucknow Super Giants on May 1 in Ekana Stadium Lucknow and will look to come back stronger to make themselves in the playoffs hunt in IPL 2023.
