Liverpool are hoping to add reinforcements to their central midfield at the conclusion of the season and have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks. According to El nacional, Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has now emerged on their radar.
Since joining the Magpies last winter from Lyon, the 25-year-old Brazilian has quickly established himself as one of the top midfielders in the country. And Liverpool are apparently ready to make an irresistible €100 million bid for the 25-year-old, in order to fend-off interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid who too are in queue for the midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp approves Guimaraes pursuit as Liverpool preparing bumper offer
Guimaraes has four goals and five assists in 35 games for the Magpies in all competitions and is without a doubt one of their best players. The midfielder primarily operates as a No. 6 and, in addition to being a skilled dribbler and passer of the ball, shines on defence. Real Madrid and Chelsea have both expressed interest in his outstanding performances for Newcastle.
Liverpool is thought to be considering a huge bid for Guimaraes. According to El Nacional, Jurgen Klopp is preparing a nine-figure bid for the former Lyon midfielder. The Brazilian international would surely be an excellent addition to Liverpool, but Newcastle is unlikely to accept his exit anytime soon.
The Magpies are the richest club in the world, and they need no money or whatsoever the Reds are ready to offer them. Liverpool will have a difficult time convincing them to accept an offer for the player. Furthermore, Newcastle are in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League next season, and Bruno Guimaraes will be tempted to stay at St James’ Park.
Liverpool, on the other hand, is expected to miss out on Champions League status next season, limiting their ability to attract top personnel. The Reds could definitely benefit from a player with Guimaraes’ skill set. They require a defensive midfielder capable of breaking up opposing assaults, winning the ball back, and initiating transitions. The Brazil international will also bring some much-needed drive and flair to the midfield.

Klopp’s side really needs to replace their ageing and injury-prone midfield. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have been inconsistent recently and might benefit from competition for a starting spot. Thiago Alcantara was just declared out for the rest of the season with a hip injury, while the contracts of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all expire this summer.
Guimaraes’ contract will be up in three years at the end of the season. This summer, the Brazilian’s options could mainly be down to two. He has the option of joining a club with a longer history than Newcastle United or remaining at St. James’ Park to be a part of Eddie Howe’s revolution. Only a lure of working with a world-class coach like Jurgen Klopp which would only help him grow could take him to Anfield.
