Pakistan became the No. 1 ODI side for the first time in the ICC Rankings after their thumping 102-run win over New Zealand in the 4th ODI of a 5-match series in Karachi to take an unassailable 4-0 lead in the series. The Men in Green has been in fantastic form in ODI cricket as they produced some scintillating performances in recent times.

Pakistan has performed exceptionally well in the series, chasing two big totals in the first two ODIs and then defending a similar target in the third game and the fourth game in the five-match in their home series. The New Zealand side went with the second-string side to Pakistan with their national team players playing in the Indian Premier League 2023.

This will be the highest ranking for the Babar Azam-led team as they have bettered the number-three ranking they had achieved in January 2007 and this will rank will add huge confidence to the Men In Green, with Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 held later this year in India.

Pakistan was fifth on the ODI rankings before the series started with a rating of 106 and the Babar Azam side now has a rating of 113.483, going past Australia (113.286) and India (112.638) and will look to retain the top spot with a clean sweep against Kiwis on Sunday.
