Former English captain Michael Vaughan and cricket commentator David Lloyd emulated Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq’s famous push-up celebrations.
42-year old Misbah-Ul-Haq became the sixth oldest cricketer to score a Test hundred after he scored a magnificent century against England at Lord’s on the first day of the opening Test.
The veteran celebrated the milestone in his own special way. After reaching the three-digit mark, the Pakistan skipper removed his helmet and gloves and saluted the Pakistan balcony before getting down on his knees in order to execute a series of press-ups.
Misbah, who scored his first ton in England, explained it as a reference to the army boot camp in Abbottabad undergone by the Pakistan team before arriving in England.
He said: “(The push-ups were) my promise to the army guys when we did the camp before the tour. We used to do 10 push-ups every time we stepped into the ground and I promised them I would do that if I got a century. And the salute was to the Pakistan flag.
And it seems Vaughan and Lloyd were not too impressed by Misbah-ul-Haq’s push-up technique, so decided to show him how it’s done.
