Arsenal star set leave club this summer to join his former club

Arsenal star Wellington Silva seems to have confirmed he is set to reunite with his former club Fluminense.

The 23-year-old attacker reportedly liked a post on Instagram which looked to be a strong hint over his return to the Brazilian giants after a series of loan spells.

The post, uploaded by arsenal_fanpictures, read: ‘Best of luck to @wsilva11 as he’s left Arsenal to go back to his old club Fluminense.

‘After struggling to obtain a work permit and unproductive loan spells, we wish him the best of luck going forward.’

While Silva appears to have unliked the post later, snaps were doing the rounds on Twitter of the Arsenal star liking it.

Renan Moura, a reporter with Radio Globo/CBN Rio, also reported that a deal has been struck that will see Wellington’s time at Arsenal come to an end.

The Brazillian joined Arsenal in 2010 but never made a single appearance for the club.

Sent out on several loan spells, his attitude was believed to be a major problem during the first few years but that seems to be something he has worked hard to improve, much to his credit.

His performances during his last loan spell, however, left much to be desired in the eyes of the then Bolton boss, Neil Lennon.

Silva’s Arsenal contract ends in 2018 so there will likely be a fee involved, although Arsenal has been known to waive such trivialities to shift players on who would otherwise be hard to move.

The Brazilian originally signed for Fluminense when he was just 11, playing for them for six years before Arsenal signed him after initially inviting him to a trial in 2008 which saw him score four goals for the Academy in a game against Norwich.
