Indian team skipper Rohit Sharma has departed for London alongside the youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal to join up with the rest of their teammates ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) final starting on June 7, in Oval. The RR youngster who had an impressive IPL 2023 joined Rohit on the flight as the duo took their flight to England on Sunday.

After Mumbai Indian’s heartbreaking loss against defending champions Gujarat Titans, the Indian team skipper has boarded to England for his important duty for the national team, as he was joined by fellow Mumbai-born cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal as he replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad in the reserve squad.

Yashasvi Jaiswal took to his social media handle, to express his delight to join the Indian skipper for the all-important World Test Championship final against Australia.

“Off to England, for the World Test Championship Final with the one and only Rohit Sharma. I trust I believe,” wrote Jaiswal.

Indian players such as Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin have already begun their preparations for the WTC final alongside Indian support staff for the important World Test Championship final against Australia.

The Indian team will be without the services of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant as they will miss out on the grand event due to injury problems, as the Indian team will go with the likes of inexperienced Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat for the finals.

Other Indian team players like  Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami, KS Bharat, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ajinkya Rahane will join up with their teammates after the IPL 2023 final and start preparing for the red-ball event which is less than a week. With the IPL 2023 final being moved to the reserve day, the remaining Indian players are expected to depart on May 31, or June 1.

India will take on Australia in the 2023 WTC Final at Kensington Oval on June 7, 2023, with a reserve day on June 12. Team India lost the inaugural edition of the WTC Final in 2021 against New Zealand at Southampton. India will compete in their second straight WTC Final this time taking on Australia in search of their first ICC trophy since winning the Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni.
