New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is in daily contact with Alvaro Morata over a potential Stamford Bridge move, according to latest reports.
Offers in the region of £57million will be entertained by Real Madrid’s top brass, even though president Florentino Perez is an admirer of Morata and was influential in inserting the buy-back clause.
Arsenal also maintains interest in the player, but have so far been unwilling to meet Real Madrid’s asking price.
Spanish outlet Marca claims the striker is desperate for clarification over his role at Real Madrid after making the switch back to the Bernabeu from Juventus.
It is a similar problem Morata had faced during his time at the Serie A champions with Conte, when he wanted to know if he would be first-choice.
Any deal which could see the 23-year-old move to Chelsea is said to be some way off in terms of finances and Real’s willingness to sell.
Chelsea already has had one massive offer of £50million rejected by the Spanish giants but are reportedly desperate to return with an improved bid.
Morata scored seven goals and provided eight assists to his team-mates for Juventus last season, which eventually earned him a return to Real.
And the Spanish international impressed at Euro 2016 also, netting three times before his country were eliminated by Italy.
Morata is believed to have a discussion with Zinedine Zidane this week, where his future plans will become clearer.
Chelsea will be on red alert to see if the Spaniard is in Real’s first-team thinking or they are ready to sell the forward.
And if they are, the Blues will get ready to swoop for the impressive goalscorer but they may face a stiff challenge from Arsenal as The Gunners are chasing him over the past few years.
