The Head of the Table Roman Reigns is the biggest face of WWE right now who recently crossed 1000 day as a WWE Champion. He is the first WWE star to achieve something like this in 36 long years. He is indeed the most valued star of the promotion right now.
But this over dependency on Roman Reigns is somehow killing the WWE roster from the core. For more than one year, WWE lacked a proper main event title scene as Reigns does not appears or compete regularly either and he was given both of the World titles of the promotion as well. Even Roman Reigns himself is bigger than the World Heavyweight title, that is also without his Undisputed Universal titles. At Night of Champions, Roman Reigns featured on the main event when he challenged for the Tag Team titles and in spite of the night of its debut, World Heavyweight title featured on the opening match.
Kurt Angle Explains Why WWE Cannot Just Rely On Roman Reigns
This crazy obsession with Roman Reigns definitely affected the roster of WWE badly. Since WrestleMania 38, WWE completely failed to build new main event stars. WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently addressed this situation while speaking on a special bonus podcast on the AdFreeShows Patreon;
“They’re gonna just send this guy to the frickin’ moon. All alone. There’ll be nobody else with him,” Angle said in jest. “He’ll be up on a level all alone. Nobody else can touch him. If that’s what they want to do with Roman Reigns, just remember — I mean, I’m not telling WWE what to do, just saying, you want to make other wrestlers.
“It’s not a bad thing to make other wrestlers the champions. You gotta build your company. You can’t rely on just one guy. I’m not saying they’re doing that with Roman, but they’re on their way to doing it.” Explained the Olympic Gold Medalist and former five times WWE World Champion Kurt Angle.
We seriously World Heavyweight title will be treated equally to the Universal title soon which will definitely help WWE to create more main event stars for the future.
