Lionel Messi ended his sojourn with Paris Saint-Germain on a dismal note as the Ligue 1 champions suffered a shock loss against mid-table Clermont in what was his final game with the French outfit.
A couple of years ago, the World Cup-winner had signed up for PSG after sensationally leaving Barcelona. Lionel Messi had signed a two-year deal – with an option for a third. However, he has decided against extending his stay in Paris and will be seen playing for a new club in the coming season.
With the former Barcelona star’s association with PSG coming to an end, it would be safe to say that his experience at PSG has been far from what he or anyone else expected. Messi was expected to lead PSG to a historic Champions League triumph after he joined them in 2021. The 7-time Ballon d’Or winner still managed to have a decent season at a personal level. He ended the season with the highest number of assists in the league with 16 and was also included in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season after helping PSG clinch the title.

Meanwhile, Messi has ended his PSG career with 32 goals in 75 games. According to recent reports, Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and Major League Soccer side Inter Miami are two of the possible destinations for the superstar.
