Just a day before taking on Australia in the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia, Team India suffered a worrying injury blow after their skipper Rohit Sharma coped a painful blow on his thumb.
The right-handed batsman was training in the nets when he was hit on his left thumb, according to RevSportz. The report stated that the opening batsman immediately came out of the nets and was attended by the team physio. The physio applied a tape on Rohit Sharma’s thumb and the India star decided to resume his batting training.
However, he eventually decided against training as a precautionary measure. Team India would be hoping that the injury is not serious and it does not impact the batsman in the crucial clash. With so much at stake, Rohit Sharma would be hoping to go into the game fully fit. A painful thumb can make life really difficult in testing English conditions and Australia’s formidable bowling lineup.

Rohit Sharma’s is batting will be very crucial for Team India as the team will be relying on their skipper to see off the new ball. The star batsman had a good outing with the bat in England a couple of years ago when India visited the country for the Test series. In 8 innings, Rohit had scored 368 runs at an average of over 50 with the help of 1 century and a couple of fifties.
Rohit Sharma looks to end India’s trophy drought:
The upcoming Test will give Rohit Sharma an opportunity to end India’s decade-long wait for an ICC trophy. India have not won an ICC trophy since 2013 and will be desperate to win the upcoming contest against Australia. They had played in the inaugural edition of the WTC final too but lost the game against New Zealand under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.
