Despite having a tough outing on day one of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship Final (WTC Final) against Australia, India skipper Rohit Sharma, on Thursday (June 8), looked in cheerful mood.

India were firmly on the backfoot when day two began. Riding on Travis Head’s unbeaten 146 and Steve Smith’s unbeaten 95, Australia started day two on a commanding 327 for 3. India desperately needed some quick wickets in the first session and they eventually got it. Just like day 1, Mohammed Siraj provided the first breakthrough on day 2 too.

The right-arm fast-bowler dismissed Travis Head for 161 to give India the much-needed breakthrough. 15 runs later, Mohammed Shami had Cameron Green caught in the slip cordon to reduce Australia to 376 for 5. Those two wickets in quick time must have made Rohit Sharma happy and it was very evident when he playfully decided to tease the umpire.

Rohit Sharma’s hilarious action:

The incident took place on the final ball of the 97th over when Mohammed Shami hit Alex Carey on the pads. The Indian fielders appealed for an lbw decision but the umpire gave his decision in the favour of the batsman. And while it looked pretty certain that India would not review the decision, Rohit Sharma decided to have some fun.

The India star came up with a cheeky gesture towards the umpire. He brought both of his hands together although did not join them to tell the umpire he wanted the review. The umpire then seemingly told the Indian players that they had run out of time for a DRS review before Virat Kohli was seen telling him that Rohit was just having some fun. Later, Rohit and Ravindra Jadeja were seen sharing a laugh on the incident.

Talking about the game, Australia continue to be in the driver’s seat. At the time of writing this report, they were on 402 for 6 with Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc batting.
