Last week after Monday Night RAW, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins issued an open challenge for this week’s RAW where he would have put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line. A number of names were already rumoured before the show on who could answer his challenge.
But this open challenge could never take place as something unfortunate happened to Seth Rollins. The segment looked to be taking place on the opening segment of the night. As Seth Rollins was making his entrance, Finn Balor, who was scheduled to challenge him for the World Heavyweight title at Money in the Bank attacked him.

Untold Tale: A Wrestler Was Actually Booked To Take On Seth Rollins, Until Plans Were Altered – Find Out Who!
It was a massive beat down to which Rollins could not reply back at all. Finn Balor kept on beating him down and officials had to come out to stop him. Still, Balor delivered three Coup De Graces outside of the ring. Rollins was completely out. When he was being taken away backstage, Balor attacked him and once again he beat him down.
It looked like the segment was just advertised to make the show exciting but it was never planned. But latest reports suggest that an opponent was actually planned who would answer the open challenge. According to recent reports from BWE via Roman Reigns SZN, the returning star Tommaso Ciampa was scheduled to answer the call;

Tommaso Ciampa Was Originally Scheduled To Face Seth Rollins
“Tommaso Ciampa was slated to face Seth Rollins but plans were changed. Hunter didn’t want Ciampa to lose his first match back. (BWE)” the account wrote on Twitter confirming the news of Tommaso Ciampa was scheduled to challenge Rollins for the World Heavyweight title.
Tommaso Ciampa made his return tonight and he actually answered an open challenge but it was not from Rollins but from Miz. Ciampa beat down his former ally in this challenge turning babyface for the first time in the main roster. There are also rumours that he would team up with Johnny Gargano soon to reform DIY.

It was reported that Triple H did not want Ciampa to lose on the very first night of his return. It pretty much makes it clear that WWE has big plans for the former two times NXT Champion. Maybe more than becoming a Tag Team. It is possible that we get to see him on the main event picture soon.
