Pakistan World Cup Winner Wasim Akram believes that Men in Green has got a great chance of winning the ODI World Cup later this year in India. Babar Azam-led side has been performing consistently well in International Cricket over the last few years.
Many believe that Pakistan will start as one of the favourites to lift the ODI World Cup, set to be played in India in October and November, as they have got a formidable team, as they have got excellent batters and bowlers in the team.
Speaking on the ICC Review, Cricketer-turned-commentator Wasim Akram feels that Pakistan has a good one-day team coming into the contest being led by the prolific Pakistan batter Babar Azam, as they have got the resource to do well in the sub-continental wicket in India.

“We have a good side…a very good one-day side and are led by one of the modern-day greats in Babar Azam, As long as they are fit and as long as they play according to the plan, they will have a chance of doing well in that World Cup because it is played in our type of conditions in India on the sub-continent,” Wasim Akram said.
Babar Azam has been an exceptional performer for men in green in all three formats since his debut for Pakistan and is regarded as one of the greatest batters from Pakistan to play in World Cricket. He will be supported by Mohammed Rizwam, Fakhar Zaman, and Imam-ul-Haq at the top of the order.
Pakistan’s pace bowling attack has been one of the best in the recent ICC tournament. The Men in Green have reached the semi-final and final of the most recent ICC tournaments.

Wasim Akram feels that Babar Azam needs to be the best version of himself, as the whole country follows him and believes that he brings the fans to the stadium across all three formats of the game and hailed his cover drive shot as the beautiful shot in cricket.

“I think he can (get better) as he is the best player we have, The whole country follows him, everything he does. He gets people into the stadium and it doesn’t matter whether it is T20, one-dayers, or Test cricket and, in my opinion, he has the most beautiful cover drive in the world,” Wasim Akram added.
Babar Azam is one of the modern-day greats from Pakistan leading the team from the front in all three formats of the game. There was no doubt about his batting skills in International Cricket, Babar has a total of 30 hundred in all formats of cricket in International cricket, with over 59.17 average in 50 overs format in 98 innings.
