Pakistan Cricketer Ahmed Shehzad shared his opinion on the clash between two stalwarts of the Indian cricketers during the Indian Premier League 2023 as feels that former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir is jealous of the Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli over the fame that he has received over the last few years in cricket.
The 2011 World Cup winners were seen having a heated argument after Royal Challengers Bangalore’s win over Lucknow Super Giants in Ekana Stadium. Gautam Gambhir was seen as furious at the RCB players for their conduct on the field especially on Virat Kohli before Kyle Mayers and Naveen ul Haq had a go at Virat Kohli before officials and teammates separated them away for the clash.
Speaking on the Nadir Ali podcast, Shehzad believes that Gautam Gambhir has a problem with Virat Kohli in the past, as he always wants an opportunity to pick controversy alongside the Indian stalwart and feels that Kohli deserves respect for his contribution to Indian Cricket and slammed Gambhir for his off-field behaviour with the RCB batter after the completion of the game.
“We have seen in the past as well that Gambhir has had problems with Kohli. I think he is jealous of Kohli and looking for an opportunity to pick up controversy with him. I have never seen anyone misbehave with Kohli. He is a legend of the game and you should respect him. And after that, he is giving excuses”.
“He said that he once shared his Man-of-the-Match award with Kohli. Did Virat ask you to? Or do you think that by giving him your award, you’ve earned the right to misbehave with Kohli for the rest of your life? It doesn’t work that way,” Ahmed Shehzad said
Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli were charged 100% of the match fee for their conduct in the match and Naveen ul Haq was charged 50% of the match fee for his behaviour in the field, in the first encounter the Lucknow Super Giants had a wild celebration in the ground after the game in Chinnaswamy stadium with Gautam Gambhir silencing the Bangalore side.
I Feel Gambhir Hasn’t Been Able To Digest The Respect And Success Kohli Has Achieved – Ahmed Shehzad
Ahmed Shehzad feels that Gautham Gambhir is not able to digest the success of the Star Indian batter Virat Kohli, as he has achieved many things at this age that Gautham Gambhir failed to achieve in his entire career and wants the LSG mentor to apologize to the Indian batter over his behaviour off the field.
“I feel he hasn’t been able to digest the respect and success Kohli has achieved. What he has achieved at such a young age, Gambhir couldn’t achieve in his entire career. If you’re a big player, or big at heart, this shouldn’t be your gesture. You should realise your mistake, and apologise to him. I have never seen a staff from the management jump in a tiff between two players.” Ahmed Shehzad added
In a recent interview, Gautam Gambhir clarified that the clash against Virat Kohli was not personal, as it just happened in a heated moment and The Delhi Players even had a heated moment during the Royal Challengers Bangalore game against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2013.
